Reader's Guide

Father is the embodiment of human ambition taken to its most destructive extreme. Originally created by an alchemist in ancient Xerxes, he evolved into a being who views himself as a true deity. His arc is defined by his relentless pursuit of power and his disdain for humanity's perceived weaknesses. After absorbing the entity beyond the Gate his powers increase to the point of defying natural order, and he can negate alchemy that derives its power from tectonic energy. His most defining trait is his ability to regenerate from any damage as long as he has access to the Philosopher's Stone within him. The turning point of his story occurs when he attempts to consume the entire nation of Amestris to gain true godhood. However, his arrogance blinds him to the value of human bonds and sacrifice. He is ultimately defeated not by superior power, but by the collective will of humanity and the alchemists who refuse to let their world be erased.
