Alexandria
The warmongering monarchy of the eastern Mist Continent.
Alexandria is a warmongering monarchy in Final Fantasy IX that controls the eastern half of the Mist Continent, one of four nations, with Lindblum, Burmecia and Cleyra, separated by large mountain ranges. It is ruled by the power-hungry Queen Brahne, adoptive mother of Princess Garnet, and its all-female army is led by General Beatrix.
Lore & Background
The story opens in Alexandria, where Zidane and the Tantalus troupe kidnap Princess Garnet on the orders of Regent Cid of Lindblum. Garnet runs away with Zidane, and the party learns that Alexandria has invaded Burmecia with black mages supplied by Kuja. Brahne, who started the war, imprisons Garnet, extracts her eidolons and uses Odin to destroy Cleyra.
Garnet and Steiner secretly return to Alexandria to reason with Brahne. After Garnet's coronation, Kuja attacks Alexandria Castle, and Garnet and Eiko summon a powerful eidolon in its defence; Kuja tries to steal it to kill his master Garland, who arrives and destroys it.
