Hydaelyn
The world of Final Fantasy XIV, and the deity it is named for.
Hydaelyn is the world of Final Fantasy XIV, a setting of diverse environments across multiple continents focused on the region of Eorzea. It is also the name of the deity for whom the world is named: Minfilia reveals that the player's visions are the Echo, a power marking Hydaelyn's chosen representatives.
Lore & Background
The Ascians, hooded immortals, seek to awaken their dark god Zodiark and imperil all of Hydaelyn. Shielded by Hydaelyn's Blessing of Light, the adventurer destroys the Ultima Weapon, and Hydaelyn later revives the adventurer so that Lahabrea can be purged from Thancred's body. Midgardsormr seals the blessing away as a test of the adventurer's worth.
Shadowbringers reveals that eons ago Hydaelyn sundered the world to imprison Zodiark, and that neither is a god: both are primals created by the Ancients. On the First, Hydaelyn's Blessing keeps the slayer of a Lightwarden from becoming one.
