Holy
The recurring spell and the Planet's defence against Meteor.
Holy is a recurring Final Fantasy spell name. In Final Fantasy VII it is the defence mechanism that can stop Meteor: Aerith prays to the Planet to summon it and is killed by Sephiroth while doing so.
Lore & Background
Her prayer succeeds, but Sephiroth prevents Holy from having any effect. After the party defeats him, Holy is summoned once again and, reinforced by the Lifestream, destroys Meteor.
Early localisations renamed the spell to avoid religious allusions: it became Pearl in Final Fantasy VI and White in Final Fantasy IV.
