Odin

The series-staple summon, Eikon of darkness in Final Fantasy XVI.

Odin is one of the recurring summons of the Final Fantasy series, named among the staples with Ifrit, Shiva and Bahamut in Final Fantasy VI and with Shiva, Alexander and Bahamut in Final Fantasy XIII. In Final Fantasy XVI he is the Eikon of darkness, whose Dominant is Barnabas Tharmr, king of Waloed.

Lore & Background

Odin was the first summon completed for Final Fantasy III, and the handling of his signature attack animation drew on the team's experience with scrolling environments in Rad Racer. He is also among the summons available in Final Fantasy Type-0.

In Final Fantasy IX Queen Brahne imprisons Garnet, extracts her eidolons and uses Odin to destroy Cleyra while Zidane's group is defending the city.
