Ifrit

The fire summon, and the impossible second Eikon of fire in Final Fantasy XVI.

Ifrit is one of the staple summons of the Final Fantasy series, named with Shiva, Bahamut and Odin in Final Fantasy VI and available in Final Fantasy Type-0. In Final Fantasy XVI a seemingly impossible second Eikon of fire named Ifrit drives the plot by disrupting the balance of the eight Eikons.

Lore & Background

In Final Fantasy XIV the Amalj'aa tribe capture the adventurer for their primal Ifrit to enthral, but the Echo blocks the tempering. Garuda later torments Kobold and Amalj'aa prisoners into resummoning Titan and Ifrit.

In Final Fantasy XVI, Ifrit emerges moments after Joshua's awakening as the Phoenix and kills him, and Clive swears revenge. Cid helps Clive search for Ifrit's Dominant, and Clive learns that he himself is Ifrit when he transforms and kills Benedikta's Garuda. Joshua survived Ifrit's attack through the Phoenix's power.
