The Forsaken

Thirteen powerful channelers of the Age of Legends who serve the Dark One.

The Forsaken are the most significant minions of the Shadow: a group of male and female channelers from the Second Age, the Age of Legends, who are among the most powerful channelers of any age. They were imprisoned with their master, the Dark One, by Lews Therin Telamon, and the stronger among them vie to be raised to nae'blis, the Dark One's second-in-command.

Lore & Background

Three thousand years later they escape. Aginor and Balthamel confront Rand at the Eye of the World; Ishamael, the most powerful of them, hunts Rand as Ba'alzamon until Rand kills him with Callandor; Lanfear, Sammael, Semirhage, Asmodean, Moghedien, Graendal, Demandred and Mesaana drive the plots of later books. The Dark One brings back the fallen in new bodies, Aginor and Balthamel as Osan'gar and Aran'gar and Ishamael as Moridin, and in A Memory of Light Mazrim Taim is raised as a new Forsaken, M'Hael.
