The Aiel War
The war in which the Aiel crossed into the Westlands, twenty years before the series.
The Aiel War is the conflict between the Aiel and the Westlands that ends as the prequel New Spring begins, about twenty years before The Eye of the World. Rand al'Thor is born on the slopes of Dragonmount during the war to Shaiel, an Aiel Maiden of the Spear who was once Tigraine Mantear of Andor, and to Janduin, chief of the Taardad Aiel; Shaiel dies after giving birth.
Lore & Background
In New Spring, as the war ends, Lan Mandragoran rides to Canluun with his companion Bukama, while in Tar Valon the Foretelling that the Dragon has been reborn sends Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche hunting for the child.
