Reader's Guide
Cis is in her favourite training simulation, a battle program set in feudal Japan, when Duo appears and duels her. He reveals that he wants to return to the Matrix, that he has already contacted the machines, and he urges her to come with him. When she refuses, he attacks; Cis catches and breaks his sword and kills him with the broken blade. She then wakes up to discover that the entire encounter was a training program.
