The Rise of Neo
He woke from the dream to break the chains of a world that never existed.
Thomas Anderson existed in two worlds: a mundane corporate programmer by day and a hacker seeking hidden truths by night. This double life ended when he discovered that reality was a simulation and Morpheus told him he was 'the One', a prophesied figure destined to free humanity.

Lore & Background
Emerging from the pod into the scorched Real World, Neo learned his flesh was merely fuel—harvested by sentient machines for bioelectric power while his mind remained tethered to the simulation. As The One, he transcended this programming, learning to perceive the Matrix's source code directly and rewrite its rules without tools, bending physics through pure understanding.
Reader's Guide
Trinity contacted Anderson online, guiding him toward answers until Morpheus offered the red pill, severing his link to the simulation. Ejected from his pod and rescued by Morpheus aboard the hovercraft Nebuchadnezzar, he joined the crew and began his combat training. The Oracle implies that he is not the One and warns him of an imminent choice between his life and Morpheus's. After Cypher's betrayal and Morpheus's capture, Neo and Trinity rescued Morpheus, but Agent Smith shot Neo dead; Trinity's confession of love revived him as the One. Revived, he stopped the Agents' bullets in mid-flight, destroyed Smith and escaped the Matrix, then vowed to show humanity a world of limitless possibilities before flying away.
