Snow biome

A Snow biome requires at least 1500 Snow or Ice Blocks nearby to change water color and background, but enemies and plants can spawn on a single block.^[1] Boreal Trees and Shiverthorn grow in the snow, and Penguins wander the surface.^[1] Common enemies include Ice Slimes, Frozen Zombies, and Demon Eyes.^[1] In Expert or Master Mode, touching water or Shimmer in the Snow biome inflicts the Chilled debuff until 5 seconds after leaving the liquid.^[1]

During rain, a Blizzard occurs in the biome, reducing visibility.^[1] Enemies killed in the Snow biome in Hardmode have a 1/300 chance of dropping the Amarok yoyo, which inflicts Frostbite.^[1] The arctic-themed surface biome with falling snow and a floor composed of Snow and Ice Blocks is called the Snow biome or Tundra.^[1] This biome is located on the same side of the world as the Dungeon, on the opposite side from the Underground Desert and the Jungle.^[1]

Below the surface, the Snow biome continues and changes into the Ice biome once the Cavern layer is reached.^[1] Once Hardmode begins, Ice Elementals and Wolves appear during the night, and the rare Ice Golem can be summoned by Blizzards.^[1] Atlantic Cod, Frost Daggerfish, and Frost Minnow are possible catches when fishing in the Snow biome.^[1]
