Cavern
It is characterized by darker stone background tiles, and stone is the predominant block, with patches of Dirt, Silt, and Mud.[1] The Cavern layer is the biggest section of the game world, starting right under the Underground and going all the way to the Underworld.[1] Within this zone, players can find Underground Cabins, Glowing Mushroom biomes, smaller areas like the Spider Nest, and some traps.[1] Lava pools appear in the deeper parts of the Cavern layer.[1]
A sizable portion of the Dungeon goes through the Cavern layer.[1] Once at least one Goblin Army has been beaten, the Goblin Tinkerer NPC becomes available in this layer.[1] The Wizard NPC appears in this layer at any point during Hardmode.[1]
NPC happiness
The Demolitionist, Clothier, and Goblin Tinkerer like the Cavern layer, while the Mechanic, Party Girl, Pirate, and Golfer dislike it.[2]
