Brain of Cthulhu

The Brain of Cthulhu is a pre-Hardmode boss themed to the Crimson biome.[1] This boss serves as the Crimson equivalent of the Eater of Worlds from the Corruption.[1] The first time you beat the Brain of Cthulhu, the Tavernkeep appears as the Unconscious Man and meteorites start falling.[1][2]

Summoning and spawning

You can make the Brain of Cthulhu appear by smashing three Crimson Hearts or by employing a Bloody Spine within the Crimson or Underground Crimson.[3]

Behavior

The battle has two phases: in the first phase the Brain is invincible and teleports while twenty Creepers orbit and attack the player.[4][5] All twenty Creepers must be killed before the Brain becomes vulnerable in the second phase.[4][5]

Second phase

In the second phase the Brain is visible, vulnerable to damage and knockback, and teleports aggressively while closing in on the player.[6]

Trivia

The Brain of Cthulhu has the least health of all bosses, but including Creepers it has more health than King Slime.[7] It is the only boss affected by knockback.[7]
