Eye of Cthulhu

Random

The message “You feel an evil presence watching you...” announces a natural spawn, after which a timer of 1 minute 21 seconds runs.^[3] For a random appearance, the Eye must not have been beaten in that world or no Demon/Crimson Altars may be placed, a player needs 200 health and 11 defense, four town NPCs must be present, and no other boss can be active.^[3]

Behavior

In its first phase, it floats above the player, spawns 3–4 Servants of Cthulhu, and then charges three times.^[4] When its health falls below 50% (or 65% in Expert Mode), it transforms into a second form with a mouth, increased contact damage, and no defense.^[4][5] Both of the Eye of Cthulhu’s forms can pass through solid blocks.^[4] The boss vanishes if morning arrives (4:30 AM), every player dies, or it moves too far from the screen.^[4]
