Background

Most Lords use Dahnans as slave labor by attaching a spirit core to them, which drains their astral energy; the collected energy is stored in the Lord's Master Core, giving them the power to compete with the other Lords. The winner is granted the title of Sovereign and supposedly becomes ruler of Rena, but all of this is a lie: no Lord who won the Contest ever became Sovereign. Instead they were taken to Rena and placed in a tube where all their astral energy was drained. The true purpose of the Contest is for the Great Astral Spirit of Rena to gather astral energy from Dahna for itself and reassemble the Renas Alma, so that the Spirit Channeling Ceremony can be recreated. With the successful creation of the Renas Alma, the Crown Contest is halted.
