Byakugan

The white eye of the Hyuga clan and of the Ōtsutsuki.

The Byakugan is the eye ability of Konohagakure's Hyuga clan, carried by Hinata, her sister Hanabi, their cousin Neji and Hinata's daughter Himawari. Members of the Ōtsutsuki clan have it too: Kaguya uses hers to recognise Naruto and Sasuke as reincarnations of her grandsons, and Momoshiki has a pair.

Lore & Background

The Hyuga fight with it in the Gentle Fist style, which can block a target's chakra points with a single hit. The eye has a blind spot, a flaw Neji learned to cover as he refined his technique.

Outsiders covet the eye. The Kirigakure ninja Ao wears a Byakugan taken from a main house Hyuga under an eyepatch, and Danzo's men try to retrieve it from him; in The Last, Toneri Ōtsutsuki kidnaps Hanabi to take her eyes as his own, while Hamura's spirit calls on Hinata as the "Byakugan Princess".
