Lore & Background
The moon is drawn toward the Earth by Toneri Otsutsuki, a descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki, the twin brother of the Sage of Six Paths, who means to carry out Hamura's promise to judge humanity for turning the Sage's teachings into ninjutsu. He tries to abduct Hinata, whom he wants to marry, and when Naruto gets in the way he takes her sister Hanabi and transplants her eyes into himself to obtain the Tenseigan. The Hyuga clan proves to descend from Hamura's kin who stayed on Earth.
