Abzats (Heavy Automatic Shotgun)

The Abzats, or Heavy Automatic Shotgun, is a makeshift weapon in Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light and one of the most powerful non-explosive weapons in the games for concentrated damage. It is a cut-down DShK 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, rebored and rechambered for shotgun shells and redesigned so that one person can carry it. In the lore, Andrew the Blacksmith salvaged barely serviceable pre-war guns, and because 12.7x108 mm rounds were so scarce he refitted the DShK's barrel for shells; the heavy action needed little change, and the result was a bulky, expensive close-combat weapon that only a few in the Metro could afford but that is ideal against hordes of mutants. It is only available through the Ranger Pack DLC for Metro 2033 or the Last Light Season Pass, and is a rare find in the Redux versions.
