Claymore Mine
A laser tripwire and a box of nuts and bolts.
The Claymore Mine is a piece of equipment Artyom can find, buy and use in Metro: Last Light and Metro Redux. The Metro-made version is probably inspired by the US M18 Claymore and its Russian counterpart, the MON-50, but it has an open front that shows its plastic explosive and the bolts, nuts and screws that serve as shrapnel; though not military grade, it does serious damage. Placed in front of the player, it projects a laser beam in the direction Artyom was facing, and any enemy that nears or touches the beam sets it off. It is directional, so anything behind it is safe while everything in the cone of the blast takes heavy damage. Friendly NPCs and Artyom do not trigger it, although he is hurt if he stands too close when it fires. Because Claymores are uncommon they are best kept for defensive situations, and they are especially effective against charging mutants.
