In this reality, Frank Castle joins the NYPD SWAT team following his discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps. His life changes forever when he finds his wife and children dead after a massive battle between the Avengers, X-Men, Brood, and other aliens in Central Park. Daredevil berates Cyclops and Captain America for their carelessness, but the heroes refuse to admit fault until Cyclops attempts an apology. Enraged, Castle opens fire, killing Cyclops, Hawkeye, Shadowcat, and Jubilee before being wounded by Wolverine. He survives thanks to Colossus's intervention. Later, after a trial where Matt Murdock defends him (revealing they knew each other as boys), Castle is sentenced to life imprisonment. A disfigured man named Kesselring breaks him out, revealing he and others were maimed in superhero crossfire, and tasks Castle with destroying every superhuman on Earth.

In Their Own Story

With Microchip's help—a former Air Force member whose legs were removed by Doctor Octopus—Castle begins his mission. He traps Spider-Man and Venom in the sewers, killing them while they fight. He locates the recovering Bruce Banner in an alley using a dart-gun transmitter and kills the Hulk. After repeated arrests and escapes orchestrated by Kesselring, Castle kills Doctor Doom and lures mutant teams to the moon, wiping them out with a nuclear missile. The Fantastic Four and Avengers are disposed of, while Wolverine and Captain America fall in one-on-one confrontations. Exhausted, Castle tells Kesselring he is done, but Kesselring insists new heroes will always rise. When Kesselring pulls a gun, Castle kills him. He warns Kesselring's associates to stay away before turning his sights on Daredevil.
