Deadpool is a Marvel Comics character co-created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza. He first appeared as a villain in The New Mutants #98 (February 1991), recurred in X-Force, got his first miniseries, The Circle Chase, in 1993 and his first ongoing title in 1997.

Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a disfigured Canadian mercenary given an artificial healing factor in an experimental procedure on his cancer-ridden cells, at the cost of severe scarring and mental instability. He began as a parody of DC's Deathstroke and is a master assassin, swordsman and marksman. Ryan Reynolds plays him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).
