Caulerpa sertularioides, called green feather algae, is a warm-water seaweed from the Caulerpaceae family. Its thallus ranges from pale to dark green and spreads outward between 0.35 and 2 metres. Feather-like fronds grow upright from a shared stolon, each frond branching with opposite, cylindrical to needle-shaped branchlets. These branchlets measure 3 to 11 millimetres long, have upcurved tips ending in a blunt point, and attach to a central axis 1 to 1.5 millimetres in diameter. Each axis connects a frond to a creeping stolon that is 2 to 2.5 millimetres thick and can reach 2 metres in length. The stolons branch into slim points, and rhizoids form on their lower surface, forking and penetrating sandy substrate to anchor the seaweed firmly.

The species was first formally described by botanist Marshall Avery Howe in 1905, published in the *Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club* as part of "Phycological studies - II. New Chlorophyceae, new Rhodophyceae and miscellaneous notes." Its basionym, *Fucus sertularioides*, was described by Samuel Gottlieb Gmelin in 1768.

Widely distributed through tropical waters, in the United States it occurs from North Carolina to Florida. It is found throughout the Caribbean—including Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Greater and Lesser Antilles—as well as in the Gulf of Mexico and the southern Atlantic Ocean down to Brazil. In the Pacific, it appears along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Palau. In Western Australia, it ranges from the Kimberley region south to the Gascoyne coast.

The seaweed typically inhabits coastal and estuarine environments, growing in sandy areas, seagrass beds, or on and around mangrove roots. It is mostly a shallow-water species, found at depths up to about 10 metres, though sparse individuals have been collected as deep as 110 metres.
