The Manuel Pellegrini Years (2013–2016)
The engineer who built City's record-breaking attack
Manuel Pellegrini managed Manchester City from 14 June 2013 to the end of the 2015–16 season. In his first season, he won the Football League Cup and Premier League, becoming the first manager from outside Europe to manage a team to the Premier League title. The title-winning season was noted for goal scoring prowess, with City scoring 156 goals in all competitions – a club record. Pellegrini also took Manchester City to the Champions League semi-final in 2015–16, which was his last season, after finishing in fourth place in the league.
