Reader's Guide
The film expands the cult subplot of Halloween 5: a cult controls Michael and drives him to kill his bloodline through the ancient Celtic rune of Thorn. Paul Rudd makes his feature debut as an adult Tommy Doyle, and the cult's leader is revealed as Dr. Terence Wynn of Smith's Grove.
It was Donald Pleasence's last appearance as Dr. Loomis; he died on February 2, 1995, and the film is dedicated to him. Released on September 29, 1995, it grossed $15.1 million on a $5 million budget and was panned by critics. An earlier workprint with 45 minutes of different footage, the "Producer's Cut", later gained a cult following.
