Reader's Guide
Halloween 4 brings Michael Myers back after his absence from Halloween III. On October 30, 1988, after ten years in a coma since the explosion at Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, he wakes during a transfer to Smith's Grove when he hears he has a niece, Jamie Lloyd, and returns to Haddonfield to kill her.
Halloween 5 gives Jamie a telepathic link to her uncle and introduces a mysterious "Man in Black" and the cult of Thorn, an ancient rune under whose influence Michael kills his bloodline, though the final cut largely played this down. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers expands the subplot: the cult controls Michael, and its leader is revealed as Dr. Terence Wynn of Smith's Grove.
