Reader's Guide
Rob Zombie's 2007 remake shows the confinement in detail. Michael is placed in Smith's Grove under the care of child psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis and at first cooperates with Loomis and his mother Deborah. He becomes fixated on his papier-mâché masks and withdraws, and after he kills a nurse Deborah takes her own life. For fifteen years he keeps making masks and does not speak to anyone, until he escapes, killing guards and staff.
In Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), the sanitarium's chief administrator Dr. Terence Wynn is revealed as the leader of the cult of Thorn.
