Development and release
Retro Gamer noted the title among 3D games that challenged Nintendo's hardware vision due to its voxel engine. Prior to release, the German magazine N-Zone mistakenly listed Capcom as publisher. A Nintendo DS port, co-developed by Apex Design and Skyworks Interactive, was released in 2007 exclusively as a double-pack with Monster Truck Mayhem. Nintendo announced a Wii version titled ATV Thunder Ridge Riders & Monster Trucks for March 7, 2008, published by Zoo Digital Publishing, but the project was cancelled without further notification.
Reception
The Game Boy Advance version received limited critical attention and has no tracked scores on review aggregators. Nintendo World in Brazil found the multiplayer mode fun but noted stiff, insensitive gameplay. Mobile Gamer awarded it 6 out of 10, criticizing clunky gameplay. The Nintendo DS double-pack was heavily panned: GameZone gave it 4/10, and IGN rated it 2/10, describing it as a poorly executed release.
