Kyaro, interested in tales from the village elder Lyle, tries to keep Frio and the other children out of trouble. The antagonist Thanatos is an enigmatic figure who can possess heroes using black crystals; he seeks to cleanse the world of humans he believes betrayed him and his mother, and also wishes for the goddesses Ada and Stella to perish.
