Background
Hoping to inherit Bhaal's divine power, Sarevok stirs up political and economic chaos around the city of Baldur's Gate, including the Sword Coast's iron shortage, to provoke a war that would bring him both power and godhood. The character grew partly out of the tabletop games of lead designer James Ohlen, whose friend Jeff Veitenheimer played a character named Sarevok as a child. Kevin Michael Richardson voiced him in the original games and Redd Pepper in Baldur's Gate 3. Critics have read him as a dark mirror of the player character, two heirs of the same god who respond to that heritage in opposite ways.
