Artemis Entreri
Drizzt's human rival: his equal with a blade, his opposite in morality.
Artemis Entreri is a human assassin in R. A. Salvatore's Forgotten Realms novels and a recurring adversary of the drow ranger Drizzt Do'Urden. Reviewer Rob Bricken called him cold-blooded and described him as Drizzt's equal in fighting and opposite in morality.
Lore & Background
Entreri works as a mirror image of the hero: he shows how Drizzt might have turned out had he stayed part of drow society instead of leaving it. Entreri appears again and again across the Drizzt books, and in one of their fights he leaves the battle wounded. Servant of the Shard (2000) makes him and the drow mercenary Jarlaxle its main characters, and Salvatore's following series, The Sellswords Trilogy, continues the adventures of the pair, with Drizzt only mentioned.
