Background
Most of the books follow Drizzt Do'Urden, a drow, or dark elf, who refuses the cruelty of his people and leaves their Underdark nation behind with only his swords and his nerve. On the surface he meets suspicion everywhere because of his race, until he finds friends who see his good heart, and together they stand against the enemies who threaten his new home. The collected editions number the earlier novels in the order of Drizzt's life rather than the order they were first published, and the first six had never before appeared in hardcover.
