The Fayth
The souls whose dreaming powers Spira's aeons, and Dream Zanarkand.
In Final Fantasy X the fayth are souls whose spirits are bound to Spira's temples; summoners such as Yuna journey to each temple to acquire an aeon from its fayth. The Final Aeon, as the first summoner Yunalesca explains at Zanarkand, is made from the fayth of someone close to the summoner, one of their own guardians.
Lore & Background
Unknown to most of Spira, the Final Aeon is possessed by the spirit of Yu Yevon, Sin's creator, and becomes the next Sin after the previous one is destroyed. Zanarkand's survivors became fayth so that their memories could create a new city in their image, Dream Zanarkand, removed from the reality of Spira; Yu Yevon used millions of pyreflies to create Sin. Seymour's mother sacrificed herself in the Baaj Temple to become the fayth of the aeon Anima.
Sin's cycle of rebirth ends when Yuna sends Sin and the aeons to the Farplane, freeing the fayth from their imprisonment. With the summoning stopped, Dream Zanarkand and Tidus disappear. The game's recurring 'Hymn of the Fayth' is sung in Japanese syllabary.
