Credo
Captain of the Order's Holy Knights, Kyrie's brother and Nero's stern mentor.
Credo is the captain of the Order of the Sword's Holy Knights in Devil May Cry 4, a strict and just man admired for his skill in battle. He is Kyrie's older brother and treats Nero as family, though he finds him unreliable. After Dante's attack on Sanctus, Credo orders Nero to capture Dante; he is part of Sanctus's plan to bring about the Order's Savior, and undergoes the Ascension Ceremony that turns him into the demon Angelo Credo, a winged form he believes to be angelic. When the Order kidnaps Kyrie to use her for Sanctus's plan, Credo loses faith in the Order and tries to help Nero save her; mortally wounded by Sanctus, he asks Dante to save Nero and Kyrie as his body dissolves into light.

Background
As Angelo Credo he carries a shield meant to protect the Order, a symbol of his faith that can repel any attack, and fights much like Nelo Angelo and the Alto Angelos, throwing golden spears of energy that Nero can send back at him with a well-timed Buster. Character designer Tatsuya Yoshikawa gave him motifs representing his job, and his devil form was meant to look heroic in contrast to Nero's and Dante's.
