Arkham
Lady's estranged father, the scholar who schemed to take Sparda's power in Devil May Cry 3.
Arkham is the secondary antagonist of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening and the estranged father of Lady. A scholar of demonology and the supernatural, he sought to break the seal Sparda placed on the Temen-ni-gru tower so it could serve as a Hell Gate, and he wanted to become a demon himself. A failed attempt that sacrificed his wife, Kalina Ann, left the left side of his face scarred but gave him some power. Disguised as the lunatic Jester, he leads Dante through the tower while tricking Vergil into helping him, playing the brothers against each other and exploiting Lady's hunger for revenge until every condition for unsealing Temen-ni-gru is met.

Background
Once the gate is open, Arkham crosses into the demon world to claim the Force Edge, combining its power with the restored halves of Eva's amulet to absorb Sparda's power. He takes on a form resembling Sparda, but his body cannot bear it and he mutates into an amorphous mass that Dante and Vergil defeat together. Expelled back to the human world and reverted to his original state, he is found by Lady, who kills him. His name was originally going to be Hyne, until Dante's voice actor Reuben Langdon argued it would sound inappropriate in English; Jester was going to be called Joker. Director Hideaki Itsuno disliked the idea of a child killing a parent, so writer Bingo Morihashi added a scene before Arkham's death in which Lady says her father is her responsibility.
