Order of the Sword
Fortuna's militant church of Sparda, undone by its own Savior.
The Order of the Sword is the religious organization of the island of Fortuna in Devil May Cry 4, a sect of knights who worship the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda as a god, believing he once ruled Fortuna as its feudal lord, and who fight to eradicate demons in his name. Every native of Fortuna's castle town belongs to it. Its leader Sanctus, resurrected as a demon by the Order's scientist Agnus, arranges the island's influx of demons and plans to rule with the Order's artificial demons and the giant Savior; Nero, raised in Fortuna as one of its Holy Knights, uncovers the scheme after Dante assassinates Sanctus at a mass, and Dante destroys the Hell Gates the Order opened with the Yamato.

Background
The Order runs a well-funded research division that builds anti-demon weapons and studies magic, alchemy and demonic species. Its knights carry engine-driven swords designed by Agnus, the Order's chief alchemist: the standard Caliburn and the officers' Durandal, of which Nero's Red Queen is a heavily modified variant. It also creates artificial demons such as the fish-like Cutlass, the sword-shaped flying Gladius that Agnus wields, and the dog-shaped Basilisk.
