Species within the genus include Purpuradusta barbieri, Purpuradusta fimbriata, Purpuradusta gracilis, and several subspecies of Purpuradusta hammondae, such as Purpuradusta hammondae hammondae, Purpuradusta hammondae raysummersi, and Purpuradusta hammondae dampierensis. Other species are Purpuradusta lacrimalis, Purpuradusta microdon, Purpuradusta minoridens, Purpuradusta oryzaeformis (the Rice-grain cowry), Purpuradusta quisquiliara, and Purpuradusta serrulifera.
