Senbonzakura
Byakuya Kuchiki's zanpakutō, whose blade scatters into thousands of petal-like blades.
Senbonzakura is the zanpakutō of Byakuya Kuchiki, captain of the Sixth Division of the Gotei 13. Its Shikai is triggered by the command 'scatter', and its Bankai is Senbonzakura Kageyoshi.

Lore & Background
In its Shikai, Senbonzakura's blade separates into thousands of slender, petal-like blades. The release can be stopped before it is complete: Yoruichi Shihōin did so by wrapping the blade in cloth during Byakuya's short battle with Ichigo.
Reader's Guide
The English manga mistranslated the release command at the start of volume fourteen as 'die'; later in the same volume it is given correctly as 'scatter'. Senbonzakura's Bankai, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, is essentially a much larger version of the Shikai.
When the zanpakutō spirits take form in the anime's Zanpakutō Unknown Tales arc, Senbonzakura appears as a masked man in samurai armor with a half cherry blossom on his helmet. Byakuya has also joked that he uses Senbonzakura to cut his hair.
