Lore & Background
At the end of Rising Storm a Gathering learns that Nightstar and Cinderfur have died of sickness and that Tigerstar now leads ShadowClan. In A Dangerous Path a trail of dead rabbits is found leading to the ThunderClan camp, ending at the body of Brindleface, whom Tigerstar has killed; when Fireheart runs as the last bait he pins him down for the pack, and Bluestar gives her last life to save her deputy. In The Darkest Hour he proposes to join the four Clans into one, TigerClan.
Leopardstar of RiverClan agrees, and the half-Clan cats of RiverClan are held as traitors; Firestar and Tallstar refuse. Tigerstar then brings in BloodClan, but its cats obey only Scourge, and when Tigerstar attacks him Scourge rips him open from chin to tail, taking all nine lives at once. His kits include Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt, Hawkfrost and Mothwing. From the Dark Forest he visits Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost in dreams and trains his grandson Lionpaw, and he leads the Dark Forest against the Clans until Firestar kills his spirit in The Last Hope. A later ShadowClan leader, his grandson, takes the name Tigerstar after him.
