RiverClan's lake
The lake that reflects the stars, where all the Clans made their second home.
The lake is the Clans' second home in Warriors, found at the end of Dawn after humans destroy the old forest. It is shared by all the Clans, each with its own territory on the shore: when scouts explore it in Starlight they pick a stretch that suits RiverClan's fishing way of life, a coniferous forest for ShadowClan, a stone hollow for ThunderClan's camp and moorland for WindClan. SkyClan joins them there in A Vision of Shadows.
Lore & Background
The lake has an island. In Starlight, lightning brings a tree down across the water during the fight over WindClan's leadership, killing the rebel Mudclaw and making a bridge, and the island becomes the Clans' Gathering place. The Moonpool, where medicine cats meet StarClan, lies far up ThunderClan's territory, near the WindClan border. In The Fourth Apprentice a drought grips the lake territories until a patrol from all four Clans breaks the beaver dam that is blocking the stream; the RiverClan warrior Rippletail dies in the first attempt. In Night Whispers the lake freezes, and the ShadowClan medicine cat apprentice Flametail falls through the ice and drowns. Long before the Clans, the ancient cats lived around the same lake.
