Lore & Background
In Eclipse, the loner Sol stays with ShadowClan after the sun vanishes during a battle, and at the next Gathering Blackstar arrives beside him to announce that he has lost faith in StarClan and that ShadowClan will stop attending Gatherings. In Long Shadows, Jaypaw, his littermates and Tawnypelt's kits stage a false sign to win him back. Blackstar is unmoved until the spirits of the former leader Raggedstar and the medicine cat Runningnose appear and tell him to send Sol away; he then passes their message to his Clan. In Night Whispers, after ThunderClan's attack, he asks the medicine cats Littlecloud and Flametail whether StarClan sent any sign about the battle.
