Lionblaze

Lore & Background

Lionblaze grows up in the shadow of two powerful lineages. His mother, Leafpool, is a respected ThunderClan medicine cat, and his father, Crowfeather, is a proud WindClan warrior. For most of the arc he does not know it: he and his littermates are raised by Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw as their own kits, and the truth comes out only in Sunrise. Despite this, he is deeply loved by his littermates Hollyleaf and Jayfeather, and his fierce nature earns him the respect of his Clanmates.

When StarClan's prophecy calls for three cats to hold the power of the stars, Lionblaze is chosen as the cat who will have the power to defeat any opponent in battle. As an apprentice he is trained in his dreams by the spirits of Tigerstar and Hawkfrost, without knowing what the Dark Forest intends. In Dark River he befriends the WindClan apprentice Heatherpaw and meets her at night in the tunnels under the moor, then gives her up out of loyalty to his Clan.

In Omen of the Stars he mentors Dovepaw, recognizes her as the third cat of the prophecy, and accidentally kills the ShadowClan deputy Russetfur in battle.

Did You Know?

• He is the fighter among the Three: where Jayfeather walks in dreams and Dovewing hears from afar, Lionblaze cannot be wounded in battle.
• His littermates Hollyleaf and Jayfeather are all in the same Clan as him, so the three siblings are united by their shared destiny despite their different talents.
