2001 Tour de France
Five summit finishes in a row, Zabel's sixth green, and no official winner.
The 2001 Tour de France was the 88th edition, held from 7 to 29 July, and has no overall winner: Lance Armstrong's original victory was annulled in August 2012 when the United States Anti-Doping Agency disqualified him from all results since 1998, a verdict confirmed by the UCI. The route included a 67 km team time trial, two individual time trials and five consecutive mountain-top finishes, the second of them the Chamrousse climbing time trial, with a rest day in the middle of the mountain block. France was ridden clockwise, Alps before Pyrenees, with a visit to Belgium in the first week and the traditional finish on the Champs-Élysées. Erik Zabel won a record sixth consecutive points classification, still the record for consecutive green jerseys, though Peter Sagan later passed him with seven in total.
