LCL

The bank behind the yellow jersey since 1987.

LCL is the brand, adopted in 2005 with reference to "Le Crédit Lyonnais", of the French retail bank that survives from Crédit Lyonnais, a major bank created in 1863 and absorbed by its former rival Crédit Agricole in 2003. Crédit Lyonnais began in Lyon and moved its head office to Paris in 1882; in the early twentieth century it was the world's largest bank by assets. Its link with the Tour de France is the yellow jersey: Crédit Lyonnais has sponsored the maillot jaune since 1987, and from 2007 the sponsorship has been credited to LCL.
