Novigrad

Novigrad is a free city in the world of The Witcher. In the short story "Eternal Flame" in Sword of Destiny, Geralt meets Dandelion in the capital metropolis of Novigrad, a city of banks, pubs and markets that is controlled by the Church of the Eternal Fire.
Lore & Background
In The Last Wish, Lord Ostrit, a magnate from Novigrad, tries to bribe Geralt into leaving, wanting to use the striga as proof of Foltest's inability to rule and to support Novigrad's usurpation of Foltest. Many of the characters, locations and ideas of "Eternal Flame" are continued in the Novigrad section of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, including a subplot about the changing treatment of mages and non-humans in the city.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the free city-state of Novigrad is one of three places where Ciri was seen. Arriving there, Geralt reunites with several old acquaintances, including his ex-lover Triss, and learns that Ciri sought out his friend Dandelion, but that they ran afoul of Novigrad's crime bosses while seeking to cure a curse.
