Cintra
The kingdom of Queen Calanthe and Ciri, destroyed by Nilfgaardian invaders.
Cintra is one of the Northern Kingdoms in The Witcher, ruled by Queen Calanthe, the grandmother of Ciri, its crown princess. About a year before the beginning of Blood of Elves, the Empire of Nilfgaard attacks the kingdom.

Lore & Background
When Cintra falls, Queen Calanthe, mortally wounded, commits suicide, throwing herself from the castle walls, and her granddaughter Ciri flees from the burning capital city. Geralt later takes Ciri under his charge as a political refugee from a kingdom destroyed by Nilfgaardian invaders. In Time of Contempt, a false Ciri is presented to Emperor Emhyr, who publicly announces his plans to marry her and legitimize his rule of Cintra.
Reader's Guide
In the Netflix series, Nilfgaard conquers Cintra in 1263, sacking the city and breaching the castle, in an invasion led by the army commander Cahir. Later in the series, Francesca and the elves settle in Cintra under the protection of Nilfgaard.
