The Second Age, when men and women both channeled and the Forsaken turned to the Shadow.
The Age of Legends, or Second Age, was the era before the series when the Aes Sedai included both men and women who could channel. An Aes Sedai experiment drilled the Bore into the Dark One's prison, and powerful channelers such as Aginor, Balthamel, Ishamael and Demandred became the Forsaken in his service.
Lore & Background
Lews Therin Telamon, the Dragon, led the fight against the Shadow and imprisoned the Forsaken with their master, but the Dark One tainted saidin as he fell, and the ensuing madness of the male channelers brought the Breaking of the World and ended the Age. Rand al'Thor is Lews Therin reborn.
