Halcyon
Humanity's furthest colony: a star system owned and run entirely by corporations.
Halcyon is the star system where The Outer Worlds takes place, on the far edge of known space. It is advertised as the only system entirely owned and operated by corporations, and most of its worlds are named after places, gods and creatures of Greek myth.

Background
In the 23rd century ten corporations pooled their money as the Halcyon Holdings Corporation and bought the rights to the system from the Earth Directorate, meaning to run it as a network of company towns. Two colony ships were sent: the Groundbreaker (UDL-001), which arrived on schedule, and the Hope (UDL-002), which vanished in transit. Reaching Halcyon takes a faster-than-light ship and ten years of cryosleep. The system has six planets - Hephaestus, Tartarus, Terra 2, Olympus (with its moon Monarch), Typhon and Eridanos - plus the Charybdis Cluster of asteroids, which includes Scylla and Gorgon. By 2355 the colony is failing under the Board's mismanagement.
