Background
The Stranger passed the colonist entrance exam and boarded the Hope, promised a ten-year journey that would feel like minutes. A skip drive failure left the ship decades late, and the Board abandoned it and its sleeping passengers. In 2355 Welles breaks into the Hope and revives the Stranger with his only batch of a new revival formula. Sent down to Terra 2 to meet the smuggler Alex Hawthorne, the Stranger's escape pod lands on Hawthorne and kills him, so the Stranger takes over his ship, the Unreliable, and his identity. As a side effect of hibernation sickness the Stranger can slow time in combat (Tactical Time Dilation). Everything else about them - appearance, attributes and allegiances - is chosen by the player.
