As Exiles, the Twins exist in a liminal state between the deleted and the active. They are believed to be older versions of Agents from the second iteration of the Matrix. Unlike standard programs subject to immediate termination, they possess the power of intangibility. This ability allows them to shift into a translucent state, enabling them to pass through physical objects like floors or gunfire, float through the air, and become effectively immune to physical harm while intangible. They rarely speak, and when they do, it is with a slow-paced English accent.

When facing the Twins, standard physical attacks are ineffective due to their ability to become translucent and pass through objects. To engage them successfully, one must anticipate their intangibility, as they can float through air and reset damage instantly. In The Matrix Reloaded they are dispatched when Morpheus causes their Cadillac Escalade to overturn and explode. In Enter the Matrix, the Twins try to stop Niobe and Ghost escaping the Merovingian's mansion in a car chase, and do not wear their trademark glasses.
