Sollozzo's Drug Business Proposal
Sollozzo's heroin deal that Vito Corleone turned down.
In 1945 the heroin dealer Virgil "The Turk" Sollozzo, backed by the rival Tattaglia family, asks Vito Corleone to invest in his operation and to provide political influence and legal protection. Vito declines, believing that the politicians and judges on his payroll would turn against him if he became involved in drug trafficking. Sonny shows interest in the deal during the meeting, and afterwards Vito rebukes him for letting an outsider know what he was thinking. Soon after, Sollozzo's gunmen shoot Vito in the street.
